After posting a photo of the new gallery wall I created in my beauty room, and receiving a lot of questions and requests for inspiration, I decided to do a post about it. For those of you that don’t know, I am very passionate about making my space my own. Even in temporary rental apartments, or student residences, I have always gone out of my way to decorate my space and really make it feel like my own. For me, it is so important to come home to a space at the end of the day that feels like home and is somewhere I enjoy spending my time.
After spending hours scrolling through Pinterest and pinning tonnes of gallery walls, I decided to create my own. I looked at a number of different ways to create my wall – finding prints in store, look at free alternatives online, and looking online to buy prints to be sent to my home. After narrowing down the alternatives I decided to purchase my prints through Etsy. The Etsy shops I chose allowed me to instantly download electronic files of the prints that I could then print at home or take to a print shop. I chose to take them to a print shop. It cost me around five dollars to print them all and I was able to print higher quality images then what I could do at home, and on better quality paper. The other great thing about Etsy is that a lot of the shop owners are willing to customize for you free of charge. Both the “Blend” and “Lipstick Swatches” prints were originally pink, but I messaged the shop owners and they were happy to make colour adjustments. This allowed me to really have personalized prints that fit my space exactly how I envisioned them to.
For the frames, I really did not want to spend a lot. I am a recent graduate and do not have a huge budget for decorating. I chose to look for frames at thrift stores, Value Village and Dollarama. I was able to get lots of unique frames that fit my colour scheme and budget.
There are a lot of different prints on Etsy, so feel free to explore other shops, but here is where I got the prints pictured above:
- Blend
- Lipstick Collage
- Bobby Pins
- New Underestimate the Power of an Eyebrow
- Lashes
- Lipstick Swatches
- When in Doubt Wing it Out
- Home is Where the Makeup Stash is
How do you personalize your space? Have you ever made purchases from an Etsy store for home decor?
Happy decorating,
Kaitlyn xo
