Mini Sephora Haul

FullSizeRender (80)

Sephora is like some kind of weird vortex that just sucks you in. Last week, for example, I went in for one product and left with six – please tell me I am not the only one this happens to. So, to make myself feel better about my Sephora shopping spree, I thought I would turn it into a blog post and share with you what I purchased!

Sephora Favourites: Give Me Some Nude Lip

Sephora Favourites Give Me Some Nude Lip

This is the product I went in for! It is a limited edition Sephora Favourites Set. It runs for $33 and comes with two full-size products and four deluxe-size sample products. It is such an amazing value!! Both of the full-size products run for more than $20 each making the kit so worth the price. Plus, I rarely work my way through an entire full-size lipstick, so I find the deluxe-size samples great. And they are a nice size to have with you on the go.

The kit contains:

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb (deluxe-size sample)
Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian (deluxe-size sample)
Estée Edit The Barest Contour Lip Liner in 05 In The Buff (full-size)
Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème in 246 Slow Burn (deluxe-size sample)
Too Faced Cosmetics Melted Matte Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick in Queen B (deluxe-size sample)
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in 1993 Comfort Matte (full-size)

I have been feeling a little under the weather thanks to the head cold I am currently battling. While on the hunt for the Nude Lip Set I walked past the colourful display of Sephora Brand Face Masks and was instantly drawn in. When I am sick I always feel like my skin really shows it. Whenever my skin is in need of a boost I opt for a mask – it is the perfect pick me up.

Sephora Collection Rose Face Mask

Sephora Collection Rose Face Mask

I picked up the Sephora Collection Rose Face Mask. I received this product as a gift from a coworker over Christmas and it is beautiful! It is a moisturizing and brightening face mask enriched with natural rose extract. The rose extract plumps the skin, provides intense hydrating and provides and immediate radiance boost. After using this product my skin does feel really radiant and hydrated! Plus, I really like the actual sheet that the mask is made out of. Sometimes, I find sheet masks can be really big and therefore they don’t fit my face very well. I find the Sephora Collection to be a much nicer size and making them more comfortable during use.

Sephora Collection Rose Eye Mask, Sephora Collection Pearl Face Mask, Sephora Collection Pearl Eye Mask

While looking at the different masks I also decided to pick up the Sephora Collection Pearl Face Mask, Rose Eye Mask and Pearl Eye Mask. The Pearl Mask is designed to help brighten and even out the skin tone through relaxing the skin. I like the idea of anything brightening, so I decided to pick this one up.

I also decided to give the eye masks a try. I have never tried an eye mask before, but I love the concept. They are small patches that hug the eye contour area. They are formulated to treat the under eye area – the thinnest and most delicate skin on your body. Sometimes, I find my eye area needs a little boost, so I am betting these little guys will be the perfect remedy.

Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay

Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask With Rose Clay

At the checkout I decided to redeem my Sephora Points for a deluxe-sample of the Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay. I am excited to try this mask because I LOVE Origins masks. This mask is designed to smooth, refine pores and boost the skin;s overall quality. I am always on the hunt for products to hide my pores – and who can say no to a pink face mask?

That is all for today’s Sephora trip! Have you picked up anything new lately? I’d love to hear about it in a comment!

Happy Shopping,

Kaitlyn

Monthly Must Haves: September 2016

September Monthly Must Haves

September is one of my favourite months. Summer is just ending and you are beginning to transition into fall. You are getting back into routines and heading back to school, or in my case work, and the cooler weather is slowly arriving. This September, I made a lot of changes to my beauty routine. I always like to change things up seasonally to stay with the seasonal trends and give my skin the care it needs. This month I tried a bunch of new products and all my favourites are new things I have discovered in the past month or two.

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter, $6 – This highlight has become an everyday essential AND it is a super affordable drugstore find. I first bought it on a whim, just to try. When I got it home I swatched it and wasn’t super impressed, but decided to give it a chance anyway. I am so happy I did. Using a brush to apply it to the skin made such a difference in comparison to swatching it with my finger. It is extremely buildable and can really give you the kind of highlight that can be seen in outer-space. I am obsessed with this find.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation Shade 201 Classic Ivory

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation, $21 – I am ready to leave summer behind, but I am not ready to leave my glowing summer skin behind. I have been maintaining my summer glow with this foundation from L’Oreal, which leaves the most incredible dewy finish. It provides a very natural healthy glow to the skin. For a full review and swatches of this foundation, see my post here.

Dior Addict Lip Glow 005 Lilac Swatch

Dior Addict Lip Glow, $41 – I attended a training session with Dior to learn about their new Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet Fragrance (it is to die for). In the gift bag, I received the Dior Addict Lip Glow in the shade 005 Lilac and it is amazing. The Addict Lip Glows are a universal balm that react to the unique chemistry on each person’s lips to give them a pink flush that will suit their skin tone. It provides a sheer glossy wash of colour that is absolutely stunning. It is infused with wild mango and luffa cylindrica to protect and moisturize the lips throughout the day. This has been in my pocket or purse for the entire month. It can quickly pull any look together and I can apply it without a mirror making it the perfect low maintenance everyday product.

Vichy 24 Hour Hydrating Anti-Acne Treatment

Vichy Normaderm 24 Hour Hydrating Anti-Acne Treatment, $29.95 – For those of you that follow my blog on a regular basis you already know I am a huge fan of Vichy products. I tried this product out and immediately fell in love with it like the rest of the products I have tried. It is a moisturizer with 1.5% salicylic acid and LHA along with their air licium technology. This product targets shine, pore visibility, pimples and acne marks. The salicylic acid helps to clean out clogged pores by exfoliating deep in pores, LHA helps to exfoliate along the surface of the skin and air licium keeps the product super light-weight. I am not a chronic acne sufferer, but I do get the occasional break out. This has made a huge difference on my skin and I have been using it for just about a month now. Even after just 6 days of use I was receiving compliments on how great my skin looked. I find my skin gets less oily through out the day and there has been a big improvement in my skin’s texture and the size of my pores.

Have you started to switch up your beauty routine and found some new fall beauty favourites? I would love to hear about them in a comment below!

Happy October,

Kaitlyn xo

Monthly Must Haves: August 2016

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, Nyx Butter Gloss, Benefit Goof Proof Pencil, Avene Skin Recovery Cream

I have mixed feelings about the month of August wrapping up. On one hand, I am so excited for cozy sweaters, fall fashion and there is something about a change in the season that feels like a fresh start. But, on the other hand, I am not ready to part with the warm weather and relaxed feelings that come along with summer. Either way, August is on its way out, and September is quickly approaching – I guess I’ll just have to embrace it. August seemed to be a month that I didn’t try a lot of new products, but rather discovered my love for the ones I have been using or rediscovered an old favourite. Here are my must have products for the month of August:

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil Shade 3

Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil ($30) – I am sure you’re all probably sick of me confessing my love for the brow products from Benefit, but I just can’t get enough. I have gotten so many compliments on my brows since these products came out. It has a tear drop shape tip, which at first was really strange to me, but now that I’ve gotten the hang of it I love it. The more pointed edge is perfect for defining the brow and the wider edge works great for filling the brows. If you want to learn more about the brow products see my full review here.

Avene Skin Recovery Cream

Avene Skin Recovery Cream ($34) – Sometimes, when I try new products it can go very badly. Like very, very badly. Like the time I over exfoliated my face, or the time I used a glycolic mask and wet my skin first (glycolic and water don’t mix – it results in burning). The Avene Skin Recovery Cream is my life saver, or I guess skin saver, when I have these little skincare mishaps. I will slather on a thick layer to my entire face, or even use it as a mask and it instantly soothes any kind of irritation and makes me skin happy again. If you are anyone who suffers from your skin becoming easily irritated, or you have common skincare mishaps (me), I definitely recommend testing this guy out.

Nyx Butter Gloss

Nyx Tiramisu Butter Gloss ($8) – This lipgloss is always with me whether it is in my pocket at work, or in my purse. It is the perfect neutral shade that goes with everything. It also has a really hydrating feel without being too sticky or heavy. If you’re looking for a low maintenance and easy to wear product I definitely recommend!

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette ($66) – This has been rotating in and out of my makeup routine forever. Whenever I bring it back out I always fall in love with this product all over again. There is something so flattering about the rose gold tones in this palette. I recently pulled this out of my collection again this month and I am so happy I did. The colours are beautiful, the pigmentation is perfect and it blends out so smoothly. I think I have all the UD Naked palettes and they are absolutely worth the price tag. They last forever and the quality is amazing. If you are looking for a good neutral palette I would recommend giving this one, or any in the Urban Decay Naked line a try.

Did you have any must have products this month? Let me know in a comment below!

Happy September,

Product Review: Vichy Aqualia Thermal

Vichy Aqualia Thermale Review, Chick AdvisorAs much as I love makeup, my true addiction is to skincare products. There is really nothing I won’t try when it comes to skincare if it means reaching my ultimate skincare goal – clear, glowing, plump, smooth, luminous skin. This desire to try pretty much anything has shown me the good, the bad and the ugly. The ugly being two nights ago when I tried a new face mask that left my skin lobster red and feeling like I had a sunburn. Something that didn’t turn out so ugly? The Vichy Aqualia Thermal products I have been trying out lately. My skin looks great!

Aqualia Thermal is Vichy’s product range that contains the highest concentration of Vichy Themal Spa Water. It is soothing and allows your skin to stay moisturized for up to 48 hours. The Thermal Spa Water helps to rebalance the skin by preserving the skin’s pH level, strengthens the skin to create a strong barrier and accelerates the regeneration of skin by speeding up the process of new cells coming to the surface of the skin. To see all the amazing benefits of thermal water check out my full blog post here.

About a month ago, I received three full sized Vichy Aqualia Thermal products from Chick Advisor to test. The products I received were the Aqualia Thermal Light Cream, Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Power Serum and Aqualia Thermal Awakening Eye Balm.

Vichy Acqualia Thermal Light Cream

The Aqualia Thermal Light Cream is, as you may have guessed, is a light cream texture. It is geared towards those with normal or combination (me) skin, with a concern for skin hydration. It is said to re-hydrate areas of the skin that are dry and/or dehydrated by evenly spreading water throughout the skin to lock in 24 hour hydration. This moisturizer also comes in a gel-water texture for more oily skin and a rich cream texture for those with dry to very dry skin.

My initial reaction when seeing the cream was “yikes”. I generally avoid cream textures as they can feel heavy on the skin and  I worry they will not suit well for my combo skin, but I was pleasantly surprised.  This product is sooo light and cooling on the skin. It absorbs instantly and leaves my skin feeling refreshed and hydrated.

Acqualia Thermal Dynamic Power Hydrating Serum

The Aqualia Thermal Power Serum is a lightweight serum suitable for all skin types. It has an ultra-light texture that softens and provides comfort to the skin without an kind of sticky or oily residue. The powerful formula provides hydration for 48 hours.

I love a good serum, so I was thrilled to see this little guy. It feels so good on my skin I want to apply it to my whole entire body. This is the perfect product for summer because during the summer months I don’t feel like loading heavy products on my skin. This product is so lightweight and provides so much moisture, which I instantly can see. During the summer it is so important to keep the skin hydrated, especially when we are losing water through perspiration. I also think it will be great for the winter months when the cold winter air is taking a toll on our skin and it needs a little boost of hydration.

Vichy Acqualia Thermal Awakening Eye Balm

Last, but not least is the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Awakening Eye Balm. It is an gel-cream that targets bags, puffy eyes and tired looking skin. It does this through re-balancing water distribution around your eye area. This leaves your eyes looking more refreshed and awake throughout the day.

I have actually already been using this eye cream in my routine since February. I struggle with eye creams. I don’t like anything too heavy in texture because I feel like it weighs down my eye area and sits on the skin not allowing it to fully absorb. This gel-cream texture is perfect! It is lightweight, absorbs super quickly and feels really soothing on the skin. I also really notice a difference on my skin when I stop using it for a day or two, my eyes look tired and the skin isn’t as smooth.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Pros:

  • All the products I used were light-weight
  • Left my skin feeling refreshed and smooth
  • I could physically see a difference in my skin
  • There is a variety of different product textures to meet the needs of each skin type

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Cons:

  • There is an added fragrance, which is strong at first, but disappears after application. It is a very clean and refreshing scent (this wasn’t an issue for me, but may be a con for anyone with fragrance sensitivity).

So, what is my overall verdict? I am really impressed with this line. Even after the first night of using it my skin felt different. When I woke up, my skin seemed brighter and it was so soft – I couldn’t stop touching it. To test out the level of moisture in my skin after using the product for a week I used the moisture checking tool in my local drugstore. Many large chain drugstores have skincare consult tools in store that the Beauty Experts in store can use to gauge the health of your skin. The tool I used reads the moisture level within your skin. I checked the level of moisture in my skin after using the product for a little over a week. Then, switched back to my previous moisturizer for a week and checked the difference. I noticed the level of moisture in my skin drop by five points. These products have earned a special place in my skincare drawer.

Have you tried anything from the Vichy Aqualia line? Let me know in a comment below!

Review: Shiseido Urban Environment Tinted UV Protector

Shiseido Urban Environment Tinted UV ProtectorI will be the first to admit that I am that girl who would wear makeup to the beach or the pool. So, when it comes to the warm summer months, I am all about getting the most I can out of my makeup. I want something that is going to even out my skin without being too heavy and provide extra sun protection where ever possible. This summer, I have been testing out Shiseido’s Urban Environment Tinted UV Protection and it has met all my high standards.

The Urban Environment Tinted UV Protector is very similar to a tinted moisturizer. It is lightweight, oil-free, hydrating and provides UVA and UVB protection (SPF 43), all while evening out your skin tone. An added bonus is that it is waterproof for up to 40 minutes before you need to reapply – talk about the perfect beach or poolside companion. There are three shades available in colour numbers 1, 2 and 3. It applies to the skin smoothly and blends out easily. I find the best application to be with a brush, but you can also use your fingers or a sponge.

I have combination to oily skin and generally prefer something with at least a medium coverage. With that being said, I was a little reluctant to first try out this product. Something that adds moisture to my skin and has the coverage of a tinted moisturizer… yikes! I am happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. I did use a primer, concealer for extra coverage and set it with a powder, but the results were fantastic. I did not get oily or shiny throughout the day and my skin maintained a nice matte finish. Despite being waterproof it removed from my skin easily with my regular makeup remover and cleanser.

One thing I will point out, is that it does have a fragrance to it. Personally, I am not sensitive to fragrance, so this wasn’t a concern for me. It also does not linger too long on the skin after application, which is another nice factor.

Pros: Light weight, UVA and UVB protection, waterproof for up to 40 minutes, maintained a matte finish

Cons: Limited colour selection (only 3 shades), scented (some people may have sensitivities to fragrance)

Overall, I am extremely happy to have found this product. It has become a summer essential for me. I love the texture, coverage, added moisture and sun protection it provides. Do you have any summer makeup essentials you can’t live without?

Tips for the Best Self-Tan Application

Tips for self-tan applicationAs a self-proclaimed sunscreen junkie, I have become a huge advocate for self-tanning products. My skin rarely sees sunlight without being slathered in sun protection that is SPF 50+ and as a result my skin literally glows in the dark. As we are now well into summer, I want to be sure to protect my skin from those harmful rays, but still maintain a beautiful summer glow. To achieve this I have been turning to sunless tanning products for a few years now. Through this time I have gone through my own trial and error process of figuring out the best application and maintenance for applying self-tanning products. Here are some of my tips and tricks to help you achieve a beautiful golden glow.

1. Preparation

Preparing your skin for self-tan is so important. This will increase the length of time that your tan lasts and will make the application much easier. You want to ensure you shave prior to tanning. Shaving can exfoliate the skin and as a result, remove your tan.

You also want to exfoliate. Self tanning products will adhere to dry skin patches, which can leave an uneven tan. Be sure to exfoliate your skin really well with a loofa or body scrub to remove any dry skin patches.

After exfoliating, moisturize any dry areas of skin. Areas such as your elbows, ankles, feet and knees usually tend to be the driest. When using a moisturizer, make sure it is an oil free product. Moisturizers that contain oil can leave a residue on the skin and can impact how your self-tanning product develops on the skin.

2. Application

Now that you have prepped your skin, it is time to apply! From my experience, the best way to apply self-tanning products is with a foam mitt applicator. It has always provided the most even application and prevents you from getting over tanned hands.

When it comes to applying tan to the face, or those dry areas like your elbows knees and feet, I always use the leftover product on the applicator mitt. This will make sure you don’t over apply in these areas and have any discolouration.

3. Maintenance

Now that you have your beautiful tan you want to ensure you can hold onto its beauty for as long as possible. Make sure you are using a gentle skin cleanser on the face and body. Avoid using ingredients that are exfoliating such as glycolic or salicylic acid because they will rid of your tan faster.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Moisturizing will help to keep your tan lasting longer, and will allow it to fade more gracefully. It will make sure your tan doesn’t cling to any dry patches and that it stays evenly coloured on your skin.

Do you have any tried and true tips for keeping your tan looking great? Let me know!

Happy Self-Tanning,

Monthly Must Haves: June 2016

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water, La Roche Posay Anthelios, Benefit Kabrow, Essie Gel CoutureJune was the busiest month for me with everything from graduation, to celebrating my birthday, to the prep for a close friend’s wedding. My posts, as a result, have been few and far in between this month. With a new month now underway, I am getting back on track by starting off with my favourite products for the month of June.

Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish (Sheer Fantasy) – If you read my monthly favourites post last month (check it out here), then you know I am going through a huge obsession with nude pink nails. It is such a clean and polished look that goes with everything you’re wearing. I think it is so incredibly flattering. This month, Essie’s new Gel Couture polishes launched and they are amazing! They are Essie’s take on the at home gel manicure trend that doesn’t require a UV light to dry the polish. Let me tell you, these are game changing! It honestly looks like a shellac manicure and it lasts for a full 6 days before any major chipping. So far I have only tried the shade Sheer Fantasy, but expect a full review once I have had a chance to test out a few more shades.

Benefit Kabrow – Benefit launched their new brow products in June and they helped my brows find their game. For a full breakdown of the new brow collection see my post here. Someone told me my brows looked “fleeky” – definitely a first. Kabrow is a cream-gel brow colour. It does an amazing job at defining and filling in my brows, while still keeping them natural. It is a super easy product to use that is amazing for anyone just starting out, or a seasoned brow expert.

La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra-Fluid Lotion – After working in the beauty industry for the past few years I have seen a whole new light to the reality of sun damage. This has turned me into a sunscreen addict. My favourite facial sunscreen is the Ultra-Fluid Lotion from La Roche Posay. It is a fast absorbing liquid with an SPF of 60 sunscreen that provides both UVA and UVB protection. It is extremely light weight, dries to a matte finish and wears flawlessly under makeup. If you are someone who isn’t a lover of sunscreen because of the heavy or oily texture I recommend giving this one a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Smashbox  Photo Finish Primer Water – This product has been a staple in my everyday routine for a while now, but with the warmer weather we have now it has become an essential. It is a facial mist that also helps extend how long my makeup wears, while having amazing benefits for the skin. It provides hydration and radiance which is perfect for the summer months when we all want glowing skin.

I hope you all had a great month of June! I would love to hear about your favourite products this month in a comment below.

Happy July,

Kaitlyn xo

Monthly Must Haves: May 2016

Essie Fiji Nail Polish, Benefit Porefessional Matte Rescue, Joe Fresh Champagne Highlighter, Nyx Scult and Highlight Brow ContourMay has come to an end and I could not be more excited for June to arrive!  I have a few new products that I’ve been using during the month of May that have become favourites for me and I would love to share with you all.

Nyx Sculpt and Highlight Brow Contour – I have a confession to make… this is the first brow pencil I have ever used. I have been a huge fan of using brow powders to fill in my brows ever since I started filling in my brows, but the pencil has certainly stepped up my brow game (#browsonfleek). The main difference I have noticed in using a pencil is that my brows are a little bit bolder and much more defined, which I love. This pencil comes with a brow colour in one end and a highlight shade in the other end. I really appreciate the consistency of the pencil. The colour is very forgiving and gradually buildable. It has a fine tip which allows for hair like strokes. I also find it isn’t a super dry pencil and it glides on easily. So happy to have discovered this one in the month of May. P.S. I wear the shade Blonde/Ivory, which is best for an ash blonde brow.

Nyx Sculpt and Highlight Brow Contour Blonde/Ivory

Joe Fresh Highlighter Powder – Joe Fresh Cosmetics have recently launched within Shoppers Drug Mart and I have been using their highlighter in the shade champagne. It has been my go-to product for highlighting over the last month. It is a beautiful cool-toned pink shade. It offers the perfect everyday highlight for me. If you are someone who wants an intense highlight that can be seen from outer-space, then I don’t think this is the highlight for you. However, if you are like me and just looking for a subtle everyday glow this product is perfect. It is not overly glittery or chunky and just provides a natural luminous finish to the skin. I definitely recommend testing this guy out!

Joe Fresh Champagne Highlighter

Essie “Fiji” Nail Polish – I have been on the hunt for the perfect nude pink nail polish. It has been such a struggle to find a nude pink that doesn’t look washed out, that is opaque and doesn’t make my skin look too pink. I have been obsessed with Essie’s Fiji this month. It is the perfect opaque creamy pale pink shade. It applies so nicely and is the perfect shade of pink I have been searching for. I also have received so many compliments on it and people keep asking me who does my nails – clearly they aren’t looking close enough at my paint job.

Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional Matte Rescue – To be honest I really didn’t give this product much thought when it first launched. I already use Benefit’s Porefessional Primer and I didn’t think anything could do much better than that, but after trying their new Matte Rescue I’m hooked. It is a gel-water consistency that absorbs instantly and feels so clean and refreshing on the skin. It has mushroom extract to absorb excess oil on the skin and diamond powder to blur out the appearance of pores. I apply this product to freshly cleansed skin after moisturizing. I feel it instantly absorb into the skin and almost tighten my pores. I apply the Porefessional primer on top and I have noticed my t-zone looks significantly less oily throughout the day. I think this product is going to be a life saver as we move into the warmer months of summer!

Those are my favourite products of May. What products did you love this month?

Happy June,

Kaitlyn xo

Jouviance Soft Peel Mask

Jouviance Glyco Laser Soft Peel MaskRecently, I have been testing out Jouviance’s Glyco Laser as home peel treatments, which sound scary with laser in the name and glycolic acid being a key ingredient.  But, before anyone gets too scared and clicks away I have to tell you, my skin has never been happier. My skin looks more radiant, smooth and even.

Jouviance’s Soft Peel Mask is formulated with 5% glycolic acid. It exfoliates, boosts the skin’s radiance and resurfaces the skin. It helps to reduce fine lines, fight photoaging and wrinkles. It will help reduce pore size, hyper pigmentation and sun damage, while treating blackheads and pimples. It is a product suitable for all ages and skin types (even sensitive).

Having recently over exfoliated my skin with a physical exfoliant (probably the most painful experience ever) I love that this product can exfoliate my skin without having to use a physical exfoliant. The non-drying formula uses BHA and AHA along with two earth clays to provide amazing multi-action exfoliation.

I use this product about once a week and I have noticed amazing results. I apply a thin layer for 10 minutes and then remove with warm water. It does have a slight tingling sensation on the skin that I really enjoy. It makes me feel like the product is really working on my skin. Instantly my skin is smooth, soft and glowing. It is an amazing product if you are looking for that instant gratification.

Beauty Room Gallery Wall

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

After posting a photo of the new gallery wall I created in my beauty room, and receiving a lot of questions and requests for inspiration, I decided to do a post about it. For those of you that don’t know, I am very passionate about making my space my own. Even in temporary rental apartments, or student residences, I have always gone out of my way to decorate my space and really make it feel like my own. For me, it is so important to come home to a space at the end of the day that feels like home and is somewhere I enjoy spending my time.

After spending hours scrolling through Pinterest and pinning tonnes of gallery walls, I decided to create my own. I looked at a number of different ways to create my wall – finding prints in store, look at free alternatives online, and looking online to buy prints to be sent to my home. After narrowing down the alternatives I decided to purchase my prints through Etsy. The Etsy shops I chose allowed me to instantly download electronic files of the prints that I could then print at home or take to a print shop. I chose to take them to a print shop. It cost me around five dollars to print them all and I was able to print higher quality images then what I could do at home, and on better quality paper. The other great thing about Etsy is that a lot of the shop owners are willing to customize for you free of charge. Both the “Blend” and “Lipstick Swatches” prints were originally pink, but I messaged the shop owners and they were happy to make colour adjustments. This allowed me to really have personalized prints that fit my space exactly how I envisioned them to.

For the frames, I really did not want to spend a lot. I am a recent graduate and do not have a huge budget for decorating. I chose to look for frames at thrift stores, Value Village and Dollarama. I was able to get lots of unique frames that fit my colour scheme and budget.

There are a lot of different prints on Etsy, so feel free to explore other shops, but here is where I got the prints pictured above:

  1. Blend
  2. Lipstick Collage
  3. Bobby Pins
  4. New Underestimate the Power of an Eyebrow
  5. Lashes
  6. Lipstick Swatches
  7. When in Doubt Wing it Out
  8. Home is Where the Makeup Stash is

How do you personalize your space? Have you ever made purchases from an Etsy store for home decor?

Happy decorating,

Kaitlyn xo
